The neurological status was found to improve gradually, mean plasma noradrenaline levels exceeded normal values throughout the study, while mean adrenaline concentrations remained within the range of normal. Mean cortisol, a stress indicator, was higher than normal on days 1, 2 and 21 in females, and on day 2 in males. The study failed to reveal any statistically significant correlation between the neurological status and noradrenaline levels, but a statistically significant correlation was found between the neurological status and adrenaline and cortisol levels.
