Many methods have been\u00a0described in the literature, yet most of them do\u00a0not consider movements in three axes and three\u00a0planes. Lately, some precise mechanical and\u00a0optical methods have been developed for the\u00a0study of three-dimensional biomechanics of the\u00a0knee. The paper presents our original method for\u00a0studying the three-dimensional biomechanics of\u00a0the knee based on the determination of the rigid\u00a0body geometry in the body-fixed reference frame\u00a0and the orientation of the body-fixed reference frame in the global co-ordinate system. The data in\u00a0the form of the Cartesian frame co-ordinates are\u00a0gathered by the co-ordinate measuring machine.\u00a0The method is compared to other similar methods.\u00a0The advantage of our method is that it allows an\u00a0accurate study of biomechanics of otherwise\u00a0inaccessible structures of the joint.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Studying the biomechanics of the knee\u00a0is a demanding task because of the complexity\u00a0of the knee joint motion.
