The blood film showed mild leukopenia with a shift to the left, mild thrombocytopenia and elevated hepatic aminotransferases about two times the normal values. Three consecutive thick blood films showed no malaria parasites. Salmo\u00adnella Heidelberg was isolated from stool cultures.
