In nearly all cases, solitary rectal ulcer syndrome is associated with prolapse of the rectal mucosa. There are two types of this syndrome: solitary rectal syndrome with ulceration and solitary rectal ulcer syndrome without ulceration. The therapy should consist mainly of diet rich in fibre.
