There are many types of amyloidoses. Secondary amyloidosis is con\u00adnected with pre-existing inflammatory disorders, which also include inflammatory bowel disease. The kidneys are important target organs, which explains the fact that proteinuria is usually the first sign of amyloid deposition in the kidneys. Nephrotic syndrome is important for prognosis of this disease. The diagnosis of secondary amyloidosis requires pathohistochemical and immunohistochemical tests.
