Severe status asthmaticus with atelectasis of the entire pulmonary lobe

The author presents a female patient with severe status asthmaticus. He presents pathogenesis, pathophysiology and potential complications of the disease and stresses the importance of clinical evaluation of the patient and, in the first place, of proper and prompt treatment of the disorder.
