Clinical entities that most commonly complicate the early postinfraction course and have adverse effects on prognosis include myocardial ischemia, heart failure and arrhythmias. The objective of the study was to determinate the incidence of these complications in 145 patients with acute myocardial infraction treated at the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases, University Medical Centre, and to investigate possible correlations between these clinical entities. Myocardial ischemia was found in 71,7 % of patients (20,2 % of those had silent ischemia), heart failure in 40 % and ventricular arrhythmias in 65,5 % (more than half of them were malignant). We showed the correlation between myocardial ischemia and left ventricular function, between myocardial ischemia and ventricular arrhythmias, but only the last correlation is statistically significant (p=0,0125).
