Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer is the second most common malignancy in Europe and also the second most common cause of cancer death. In Slovenia, the incidence of colorectal cancer is high and is still increasing. The survival rate of our patients operated for colorectal cancer is improving and slowly approaches the survival rate of patients operated on in the western world. There is still a problem of late diagnosis, usually when the disease is already disseminated. The approach to the treatment of colorectal cancer is multi-disciplinary. Cooperation between various specialists (gastroenterologists, radiologists, surgeons, oncologists and psychiatrists) is very important. The multidisciplinary approach has already led to better results because of earlier diagnosis, modern oncological principles and better surgical techniques.
