Dopppler Ultrasonography and Color-Power-Angio Imaging: Methods for Evaluation of Flow in Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt – Case Report

Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt is an alternative therapeutic approach in the treatment of portal hypertension and its complications. Two cases with implanted transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt are described. Doppler ultrasonography and color-power-angio imaging, a new imaging technique, are effective, non-invasive methods for evaluating shunt function and should be considered for use as the primary imaging technique in routine follow up after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt placement.
