Dysautonomy in Children and Youth with Case Presentations

This post is also available in: enEnglish

In the article we provide an overview of paediatric autonomic dysfunctions. In children, autonomic disorders are often overlooked since they can range from mild, not even by health care specialist recognized problems. Signs and symptoms of dysautonomy can be painful and deteriorating to a child's wellbeing so they must be timely recognized and treated. In children some dysautonomy events can be life threatening and urge for a prompt treatment. We present the autonomic dysfunction triggers, management and treatment of children who experience autonomic dysfunction frequently. The goal of this review is to increase awareness of the expanding spectrum of paediatric autonomic disorders and hence to contribute to a better health care of children with autonomic dysfunction.
