Etiology, Epidemiology and Histopathology of Endometrial Cancer

Abstract:

This post is also available in: English Slovenščina (Slovenian)

Endometrial cancer is a hormone dependent tumour. Estrogens, endogenous as well as those infiltrated artificially into the organism, play a decisive part in its origin. The disease affects especially older or overweight women. In Slovenia, endometrial cancer is the most frequent of genital malignomas. It occurs most often in the histological form of endometrioid adenocarcinoma, adenosquamous carcinoma, papillary serous adenocarcinoma and clear-cell adenocarcinoma. In predicting the course of disease, staging is more important than the histological tumour type. On the basis of surgical pathologic data, the patients with endometrial cancer are classified into four stages.
