Immunization of Children with Renal Disease
The article presents the recommendations for immunization of children with chronic kidney disease of higher stages and children with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome. These children are in some cases more susceptible to serious viral and bacterial infections. The prevention of infectious diseases by efficacious vaccination is very important in these children therefore they should receive all recommended standard vaccines for healthy children whenever it is possible and there are also some additional vaccinations recommended. It should be emphasized that live attenuated vaccines should be avoided in children after renal transplantation and in children with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome on immunosuppressive therapy.
