Peritoneal dialysis is a generally accepted method for management of renal failure in chronic and acute renal failure. A multidisciplinary team manages patients on peritoneal dialysis with nephrologist and surgeon having a leading role. The surgeon provides peritoneal access with insertion of peritoneal dialysis catheter and manages catheter-related complications. Laparoscopic insertion of peritoneal dialysis catheter has become a standard method in adult patients. It is safe and effective with rare complications in hands of an experienced surgeon.
