Modern views of menopause

Menopause is defined and its typical symptoms are described. Modern views of hormonal therapy for menopausal problems, as well as local hormonal treatment of urogenital syndrome are presented. The author emphasises the significance of preventive hormonal treatment in patients with osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases. Risk factors for osteoporosis and contraindications for hormonal replacement therapy are presented.
