Surgical Management of Spastic Equinus Deformity in Children
The author describes a modified operative technique for treating spastic equinovarus deformity, the aim of the modification being to prevent secondary deformity, which may develop after the initial operation. The results two years after the operation were excellent in all patients while those assessed 10 and 20 years postoperatively were good or satisfactory only in hemiplegic children. The outcome of surgery largely depends on the level of the child’s mental disability.
