Combined intravenous anesthesia involves the use of several agents given in low doses with the aim of avoiding adverse high dose-related effects of these agents. Narcotics, analgesics, and relaxants are used. Intravenous and inhalational agents are employed to induce and maintain sleep during the operation, while analgesics are given to prevent the patient from experiencing pain. The use of muscle relaxant is prerequisite for smooth operation and controlled ventilation. Today, combined intravenous anesthesia is the most commonly used form of intravenous anesthesia, and at the same time, the most widely employed form of general anesthesia. We select the agents which we consider to best meet the patient’s safety and comfort requirements during the operation, and provide best maintenance of anesthesia and recovery supervision. In order to further increase the safety rate of combined intravenous anesthesia we duly introduce new intravenous agents coming into the market.
