Over the past decade, the operative treatment of heart disease has made great progress. Developments like the port access surgery and robot telemanipulation system have not only revolutionized the field of cardiac surgery, but have also played a critical role in the development of modern day medicine. This innovation is an operation known as Endoscopic Heart Surgery, which achieves all the desired results, but with minimal harm to the patient. Endoscopic heart surgery is a reliable alternative to conventional surgery for the treatment of different cardiac diseases. It reduces trauma to the patient, shortens hospital stay, reduces the overall cost of operation, provides a better cosmetic result and also allows for a faster recovery. The aim of this article is to summarize the latest knowledge on the endoscopic heart surgery, from principles of the operation and indications for the operation to the advantages and disadvantages of the endoscopic surgery.
